Replying to a Discussion Group in CUNA Councils Connect is as Easy as the List serve – Two Clicks Away!

I wanted to take a moment and reiterate how excited I am about our new discussion groups in CUNA Councils Connect– both their capabilities and ease of use. Not only are they informative and relevant to our member's needs (with neat functionality – see below), but they are as easy to post and reply as the councils' list serves – only two clicks away to participate in a discussion.

Two clicks away? Yes – it's that easy. It takes two clicks to reply to a list serve discussion and two clicks to reply to an online discussion group in CUNA Councils Connect. Let me demonstrate.

How to Reply on the List serve

Want to reply to a list serve discussion? Two clicks - You have to first click “reply” in your email and then “send” after composing your message.

Want to reply to a discussion group in CUNA Councils Connect? Two clicks – You have to first click either of the two links in the email notification and then click “reply” on the discussion thread after composing your message.

Another advantage of the discussion group is that when you reply, you see all responses/messages in the post displayed sequentially – ensuring you are not providing redundant information.

What's so neat about discussion groups in CUNA Councils Connect again?

Think of the discussion groups like little list serves...on steroids!

Here is why:
Your council's list serve is for anything and everything related to your discipline….and  will continue to serve that purpose. However, with CUNA Councils Connect, you now have the ability to create a focused discussion group around a specific topic – regional, areas of expertise, etc. – and have a targeted conversation(s) away from the hundreds of other members who it doesn't apply to. You also have the added benefit of being able to converse with members of all six councils.

In addition, all groups may be subscribed to via email or RSS (you can even choose to subscribe to just a single thread of discussion). Unlike the list serve, each post and reply is tied to the author's profile. This is helpful when you want to see what an author's asset size is, etc. You can also share files (any type) within a group.

*Note that in the example above, it assumes that the user is already logged into CUNA Councils Connect. If they are not, they will simply have to log in and then reply. Most members find it easier to remain logged in by checking the “Remember Me” checkbox.
