Summer Slowdown? Multiple Referral Programs May Be the Answer
It is not uncommon for appointment frequency to slow in the summer months. While having a referral contest can create immediate excitement and awareness of your financial services program, you may find that keeping the referral flow consistent is a challenge. Consider cycling two to three referral programs at one time to keep momentum moving forward.
For example, recognize the top referring staff person in each branch each month with a public “thank you”, perhaps an “all staff” e-mail blast, a small gift card, etc.
In addition, you may recognize the top referring branch each quarter with pizza or lunch for the branch staff. Having the advisor(s) and program manager or program champion involved is recommended.
Run additional promotion events throughout the summer months. Consider hosting a local event; this is always a good way to build awareness and affinity in the community, generate excitement and help generate additional referrals. Again, be sure to recognize and reward the referrers.
The slower, summer months are a perfect time to focus on enriching your referral program. A strong, energized, referral stream will ensure that even when no campaigns, events or internal competitions are running, momentum will continue.
